Kerri Burchill, Eastern Michigan University

Kerri Burchill

Kerri Burchill has served teaching and administrative roles in K-12 and higher education roles in Canada, the United States and the West Indies.   Kerri is currently a doctoral fellow at Eastern Michigan University, with an academic focus that examines the factors that influence professional learning in higher education.  She has two Master degrees – one from Keller University (Human Resource Management, 2008) and the second from the University of Alberta (Education, 2000).  In addition, Kerri earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brigham Young University (1995) and an Associate’s degree from Ricks College (1991).

Recent presentations include:  Professional dialogue, A necessary tool for change (Eastern Michigan University, 2014), The Great White North - Canada's K-12 educational system and more importantly, a focus on Alberta (Phi Delta Kappan, 2014), Making progress: A professional conversation for teaching and learning (Educational Development Consortium, 2014), Podcast teaching with technology (University of Michigan, 2012).  In the 2013-2014 academic year, Kerri has taught at Eastern Michigan University and the University of Michigan.  Additionally, she contributes to the development of an innovative teaching and learning program at Eastern Michigan University, coordinated through the Faculty Development Center.  In support of this work, Kerri and a team of educators were awarded the Women in Philanthropy Grant.  

She is passionate about helping individuals and organizations make progress, captured by her personal mission, “I am a bridge.”   Her award recognition underscore her passion for supporting others make progress.  In 2005, Kerri was recognized with the Alberta Centennial Medal, a provincial recognition for leadership, volunteerism and community contriubtions.  In 2001, Kerri was honored with the PanCanadian Teacher's Choice Award for having played a significant role in the life of a student.
